Mr. Ace

Artist Statement
Our inspiration from the Burkman Brothers
The Burkman Brothers clothing have a strong west coast vibe with a clean and fresh feel. They create a line for both the explorer and the innovator. This is a company that believes in being a free spirit, and it is truly shown through the designs of their clothing. The Burkman Brothers clothing looks to the west coast for inspiration in their clothing designs because of the play on patterns and earthy vibes, pulls of fiery red and burnt orange. Upon viewing their collection we noticed that they tend to use mostly A-Line silhouettes, and free flowing fabric for their garments, which worked out perfectly for a genderless storyline. Another design principle this brand follows is the use of patterns and graphic tees with wording such as “Mountain Man” and “Part Bear”.
Mr. ACE is a team that focuses on the concept of having a couple in love can feel free and and spontaneous without the gender roles that society has fallen into. We related to the Burkman Brothers clothing by showing the image of exploration and creativity not only in the west coast but also by bringing it to the east coast, in New York City. Our theme is inspired by the life of a couple who lives in the city and rents a small studio apartment. They awaken after a flirty Saturday night and crave a lazy Sunday afternoon together. Neither is dominant over the other and we wanted to resemble that with the couple wearing similar clothing.
In collaboration with The Burkman Brothers, the Mr. ACE team views the end consumer as having a very urban feel, with a young vibe, wearing cool colors with some earthy tones and having a shapeless feel. We feel that the clothing would appeal to both male and female consumers.
For this photoshoot we will be using one of the New York Film Academy’s studios. With the use of the studio we are going to be creating a bedroom scene with props that NYFA helped locate. The props included were a bed, curtains, pillows, dresser, rug, and other small extras such as coffee cups. In all, the set had a very natural feel and resemble a small studio bedroom in a New York City apartment.
